Public Meeting: Hamilton’s town centre.

Hamilton’s MP, MSP and councillors are hosting a public meeting on the future of  the town centre on Thursday the 29th of March at 7pm in Hamilton Town House.

The meeting follows the passing of the ‘Hamilton Town Centre Strategy’ by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee.

As a result of councillors backing the plan, the proposals are now out for consultation with residents.

The local politicians will use the public meeting to seek the views of their constituents on the package proposed by the Council and feed their responses into the consultation.

The meeting will hear from Angela Crawley MP, Christina McKelvie MSP, Council Leader John Ross, Councillor Josh Wilson and Councillor Stephanie Callaghan.

Those with an interest in the town are encouraged to come along and make their views known.

“We are delighted to host a public meeting to discuss the future of Hamilton’s town centre for our constituents.

“Since we launched our action plan we have made excellent progress, bringing attention, jobs and investment into our town.

“Thanks to the SNP Scottish Government and to the new SNP administration at South Lanarkshire Council, Hamilton Town Centre is on the cusp of real, positive regeneration.

“South Lanarkshire Council have now put their 24-point package of proposals out for public response and we want to hear your views.

“We would encourage all our constituents to get involved in the campaign for town centre regeneration and come along to our meeting to make your voice heard.”
