Hamilton’s Manda Centre played host to a visit from Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley.

The centre, which was established in 2016, provides support for the mental and physical wellbeing to family and friends affected by trauma, loss and personal crisis.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the Manda Centre provides one-to-one and telephone counselling as well as a range of therapies, practical and emotional support and group support.

SNP MP Ms Crawley was given a tour of the centre on Quarry Street and met with staff and volunteers to discuss their changing workload as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commenting, Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley said:

“I was pleased to be able to visit the Manda Centre and find out about the work they do to support people through some of the most difficult circumstances.

“The work carried out by the Manda Centre is vital and plays a key role in helping people to recover following trauma and loss.

“Covid-19 has changed the way that therapist and counsellors work by creating new challenges and opening up new opportunities.

“It has also created a higher demand for services like those offered by the Manda Centre so I will be more than happy to support the centre in any way I can to ensure this important work continues.”
