Lanark and Hamilton East businesses recognised as some of the fastest growing and most dynamic in the UK

Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley has today welcomed the news that both Borders Biscuits and Q-Mass LTD have been listed as two of the 56 fastest growing Small to Medium Sized Enterprises in Scotland.

New research from the London Stock Exchange also found that the Scottish companies in their ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ list were the fastest growing in the UK, with average growth in annual turnover of 83 per cent.   This also comes as a new survey, published by business advisory firm BDO LLP, shows that food and drink firms in Scotland expect to grow by up to 20 per cent next year.

Commenting, Angela Crawley said: “It is encouraging to see Small and Medium Sized Enterprises based in Scotland recognised for their inspirational growth and that food and drink sector, which is already worth £11 billion, is optimistic about future growth.

“I am also delighted that two businesses in my constituency, have been recognised in the top 56 fastest growing SMEs in Scotland.

“It is vital that SMEs continue to be supported, because – if they are – we will be able to build on this record to deliver a fairer and more prosperous Scotland.”
