Hamilton Jobs Fair is a success

On Friday 5th July local politicians Angela Crawley MP and Christina McKelvie MSP held a joint jobs fair in the Hamilton Town Hall. The event was a huge success, with more than 30 employers recruiting and over 350 prospective employees making their way to the Hamilton Jobs Fair.

There were no shortage of different sectors represented with employers from as wide and varied backgrounds as Social Security Scotland, South Lanarkshire Scotland, Police Scotland, ALDI, HSBC and British Airways taking part during the day.

Commenting, Angela said:

“I was delighted to host the Hamilton Jobs Fair and thank everyone that supported the event.

“Tackling unemployment and underemployment is a key part of lifting people out of poverty.

“I’ve already heard some fantastic stories of people finding new opportunities as a result of the fair and look forward to organising my next event.”

Following on, Christina said:

“I was absolutely delighted to see the real impact this job fair has had on countless folk who came along. One of the most common things I heard from those speaking to employers was how they had not even considered certain careers might be an option before speaking to them at their stalls. The employers too were delighted with the calibre and enthusiasm of those attending!

“Scotland, in large part due to the ongoing work of the Scottish Government, is the best place to find work across these islands. Office for National Statistics figures show jobless totals in Scotland are at an all-time low, well below UK figures. That really came through on Friday!”
