Foodbank support

Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley is backing the Tesco Food Collection to support foodbanks in her constituency.

The collection is being held to gather long-life food to help Tesco’s food charity partners – the Trussell Trust and Fareshare – in their work of feeding people within communities across the UK.

Tesco have committed to top up customer donations in cash by 20 per cent to aid the charities in their work.

Ms Crawley visited Tesco’s Uddingston store to make a donation and to support the collection.

Volunteers will be on hand in both the Lanark and Uddingston stores to accept donations during the collection which runs from Thursday 30th June to Saturday 2nd July.

Commenting, Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley said:

“I would encourage anyone who is able to do so to donate to the Tesco Food Collection this weekend.

“By topping up donations by 20 per cent, Tesco are ensuring that thousands of people across the country will be able to feed their families without having to worry – particularly considering the current cost of living crisis.

“My office door will always be open to anyone who is struggling to get by and I will continue to lobby for fairer support for those who are struggling so that we can one day eradicate poverty.”
