Deadline approaching for town centre funding

Angela Crawley MP is encouraging community organisations from across her constituency to bid for town centre regeneration funding.

South Lanarkshire Council are welcoming applications from eligible organisations to apply for grants of more than £50,000 to help improve our town centres.

The funding came as part of the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund and must fit with the Government’s criteria which is set out in their Town Centre Action Plan.

The fund is open to towns with a population equal to or greater than 1,000 and closes on the 31st of July 2019.

Commenting, Angela said:

“This funding has the potential to be transformational for a number of towns across Lanark and Hamilton East.

“I have already met with community organisations in Hamilton, Larkhall, Carluke and Lanark to discuss their plans and ambitions.

“This process has given communities across South Lanarkshire the ability to come together and think positively about their towns redevelopment.

“That is why I welcome the approach taken by the Council administration, proving that they are serious about including people in the decision-making process.

“I hope that this is the start of more meaning engagement by the Council and I am looking forward to working with organisations across Lanark and Hamilton East to make their proposals a reality.”
