Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley has welcomed figures showing a reduction in unemployment in her constituency.
The total number of claimants of Jobseeker’s Allowance and Universal Credit has dropped by 208 from this time last year.
The current figures show 1,421 claimants with 25 fewer claims from last month.
Commenting, Angela said:
“Jobs and investment in my constituency and for my constituents are some of my top priorities.
“These figures are encouraging, but they are by no means satisfactory.
“All too often people who are actively seeking work do not have access to opportunities – that is not good enough
“As an elected representative, I hope to help my constituents through hosting employment events, including the upcoming Hamilton Jobs Fair on August 19 at the University of the West of Scotland.
“So let’s keep the momentum up and get our unemployment figures down. If you are out of work or need training, come along to my event and I’m confident you will find it useful.
