Angela nominated for Icon Award

Angela Crawley MP for Lanark & Hamilton East has been shortlisted for the Icon Awards Politician of the Year Award – for the third year running.

The awards are held to recognise individuals for their work to encourage inclusivity and diversity in Scotland.

Ms Crawley has been campaigning for equality at Westminster since her election in 2015, championing the abolition of tribunal fees and for inclusive education in schools, as well as campaigning for changes to the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act to reflect current needs and practices.

Ms Crawley is the SNP Westminster spokesperson for Equalities, Women and Children, Family Support, Housing, Child Maintenance and Disability, and sits as a member of the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

Commenting on her nomination, Ms Crawley said: “I have won Politican of the Year at the Icon Awards for the past two years, so it is incredible to be nominated a third time.

“The Icon Awards are a wonderful celebration of the work that is being done across several sectors of society in championing inclusivity.

“It is especially important at this time to keep marching towards equality, while Theresa May’s government flirts with the regressive DUP.

“I will keep fighting for the rights of my constituents and for people across the UK.”
