Angela launches Covid-19 Community Hero Awards

Angela Crawley MP has launched the Lanark and Hamilton East Covid-19 Community Hero Awards scheme to recognise the contribution and sacrifice people across her constituency have made during the pandemic.

Ms Crawley is encouraging her constituents to nominate local people that contributed to helping the vulnerable or those in need since the beginning of the public health crisis.

The awards are designed for individuals, businesses, community groups or voluntary bodies that have went above and beyond and deserve recognition.

Commenting, Angela said:

“Over the past eleven months, individuals and groups in villages and towns throughout Lanark and Hamilton have been working selflessly and tirelessly to help others in their local area stay safe and well.

“There have been so many local heroes who have done their bit a part the pandemic – businesses have changed their way of working to offer delivery services and have implemented new, innovative ways of operating to safely support the community and their employees.

“The food banks whose demand has surged but they working to deliver for those most in need and the volunteer groups who having set up from scratch and provided so many ways for the community to access food, medicine, and support.

“I have been humbled by the numerous examples of people going the extra mile to help those in need during the pandemic, however I know there are so many unsung heroes of this crisis.
