Angela Crawley urges Raab to repatriate UK citizens

Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley has today written to the Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, urging him to repatriate British Citizens currently stranded abroad.

Since the outbreak of Covid19, Angela has been inundated with constituents stuck in either Australia or New Zealand without any means of returning to the UK.

In her letter to the Foreign Secretary, the local MP highlights the urgency of her constituents’ plight, with many running low on medication, finances and without accommodation.

Ms Crawley also criticised flight companies that have inflated flight prices on the last few routes to the UK.

Commenting, Angela said:

“A number of my constituents are in dire straits – stuck halfway round the world without any means of returning.

“Many of those that have contacted me are in vulnerable categories and are running low on either cash or vital medication.

“The UK Government have an obligation to ensure their safety and must do everything in their power to bring my constituents home.

“There are a number of commercial planes and volunteer pilots and crew available that could co-ordinate the global effort.

“It is time the Foreign Secretary took responsibility for this crises and repatriated our citizens stranded abroad.”
